The Sidney and Carol Aroesty Family Scholarship Fund was created to honor the life of Sid Aroesty, a man who valued hard work, honesty and integrity and to continue his and his wife Carol’s legacy of generosity. The fund aims to provide hope for those in short supply of opportunities as together Sid and Carol have similarly done for the past three decades.
As per Sid’s wishes, the fund targets students of his alma mater, East High School, in Rochester, New York, which now has among the lowest graduation and higher education continuation rates in the state. Sid has always tried to help those in need, with a special interest in immigrants or children of immigrants, chasing the “American Dream.” Therefore, the scholarship fund has been directed to identify promising students who have demonstrated financial need, coming from immigrant families, who have strong work ethic, involvement in the community, and an interest in the sciences. The fund will provide financial assistance for qualifying students to attend a 2 or 4 year institution of higher education. Sid and Carol's sons, Michael and Jason, will also mentor these students with the aim of helping achieve the best possible outcome for these young adults, who otherwise, would have little opportunity.
The Sid and Carol Aroesty Family Fund is managed and held by the Rochester Area Community Foundation. Prospective scholarship recipients please contact RACF directly at:
